Hi Dad!
These are Facebook posts from my first couple of days back at work after you passed. It was hard to go back to normal life where nobody knew just by looking at you that your heart was shattered in a million pieces. Life has to move forward though, even with the pain. A sweet baby boy blessed my day and reminded me that every day holds its blessings for someone. I was so happy to meet this beautiful little red headed baby boy born on the day you were called home. He was pure sweetness sent straight from Heaven. Nothing happens by chance Dad. You always knew that. Everything meant something to you. You knew it all was orchestrated by The Lord Himself. I am so happy that you shared that belief and so many others with me. Thank you Dad! I love you Dad!

"So today was my first day back at work since my dad died. Work provided far too much alone time! There were no distractions to keep me out of my head. It was just me and the clothes for hours. All I could do is think of my dad. All I could do was think of all the people I have lost in my life. Some have died. Some have moved away. Some just live too far away to ever see. And then some of them I have just lost touch with. It is very sad really. I miss so many people!!!! My dad and my babies are at the top of my list, but my list is long! I want you ALL to know how much I value each and every single one of you!! I am so grateful to have you all in my life!! There are so many of you that I don't get to see or even talk to as much as I would like. I want you all to know that I think of you often and would love to be able to spend some time with you. You are all a valuable part of my life. I pray that I get the chance to see you all at least once more, but even if I don't please remember that I care and that I love you all!!!! God bless you all!!!!"

"I just met a cute little redheaded baby boy who was born on June 15, 2013. Such a horribly tragic day for our family! It was the day my dad was killed in a car accident. June 15, 2013 is not a horrible day though! It is just that something horribly happened on that day. But something amazingly beautiful happened on that day too!! Sawyer happened!!! It was so nice to meet this happy family who was given such a huge blessing on that day!! It was nice to meet someone who June 15, 2013 was a joyous day for!! It was nice to see Sawyer's sweet little smile!! So comforting!! Thank you Lord for June 15, 2013!! Thank you Lord for Sawyer and all the other babies like him!! They bring so much joy to the world and to the lives of those around them!! God bless that family!!"

"We are packing up to leave camp now. We will be home this afternoon. Here's a little conversation I just had with my 7 year old daughter Faith:
Mom: So what was your favorite part of camping?
Faith: Roasting marshmallows
Mom: Oh ya? What else?
Faith: Sleeping in a tent
Mom: Ya that was fun!
Faith: And my other favorite thing was thinking that Grandpa Dale was there!!!!
Mom: (A little surprised) Oh ya? You think Grandpa Dale was there?!
Faith: (Very confidently) Yep! Every second! And now he went back to Heaven where he can run!
Mom: That's awesome!!!!
What a special conversation!! That girl loves her grandpa!!!! I totally believe her that her grandpa was here with us!!
We love you Dad!!!! Thank you for camping with us!!!! "

A little reminder of My Dad from Joyce Meyer :)
Hi Dad!
This is just a little something Joyce Meyer shared that made me think of you. The Lord sure was working through you and you ALWAYS gave Him all the honor in everything you did! I have no doubt that He was very pleased with you! I also have no doubt that you are so very happy now! Happier than any of us has ever seen you! I can just see the huge smile you must have that goes from ear to ear!! I am so proud to be your daughter Dad!!! I love you so much!

One Month & Getting to know who Dale Victor McCormick was
Hi Dad!
This is what I wrote for you one month after you were called home. I wanted to focus on who you were and not just your death. I guess I still feel that way. That is why I started this blog. It will be a place that I share you and not just your death. When Auston was born shortly after your passing, we were all sad that you didn't get to meet him and Vicki said the sweetest thing. She said something like, "Sure he did! They high-fived on the way! :)" We all thought that was such a sweet way to look at it and could even picture it. That is what I am referencing when I talk about Auston in this post. Dad, you really are someone special to all of us!!! We will NEVER forget you and we will makes sure that all of your grandkids NEVER forget you either!!! We all love you and miss you so much Dad!!! I love you more that I can ever explain Dad!
Love,
Mary Ann

"Dad has been gone one whole month! Almost to the minute! Instead of focusing on the fact that he died though, I would like to focus on the fact that he LIVED!!! My Dad lived for 57 years, 7 months and 27 days!!! He was born to my Grandma Ann and my Grandpa Jack on October 19, 1955. He was their first child and the first of three boys. He was a beautiful child!! He grew up to have three children. Myself, my sister Misty, and my brother Casey. We were the joys of his life!!! He made sure to tell us so all the time! There is nothing he wouldn't have done for his kids! Or his mother, father, brothers or just about anyone for that matter! He was a fun guy and always did silly things just to make people happy. That was just the kind of guy he was. We all loved him for that! He also became a minister and even baptized my daughter Emily. He was a man of God! He thanked God for everything in his life! He helped others find their way to The Lord as well. I have no doubt that he pleased The Lord very much! My Dad also had eight grandchildren. Four girls and four boys! He loved them all so much!!!! He was the best grandpa ever!!! He was the best Dad ever!!! He was a great son, brother and uncle too!!! He really was a great guy who would help anybody! He didn't get to meet his youngest grandson, but he high-fived him on the way to Heaven! He did so much good in his life!!! We all love him so much and treasure every single second he was here with us!!!! Thank you Lord for every moment my Dad lived!!!!! Thank you Lord for giving me, my sister and my brother the best dad ever and thank you for giving my kids and my nephew the very best grandpa ever!!!!!! That list really could go on and on so I will just say thank you for everybody's life he touched!! I LOVE YOU DAD!!!!! I am so very glad that you ARE my Dad!!!!!"
Camping and Blackberry Bushes :)
Hi Dad!
Last July we went camping during the time I was supposed to be with you. We had a great time and thought about you constantly! My heart was so broken because I wasn't with you, but I tried to find joy in the experience I was having with those that were with me. You found many little ways to show me that you were indeed still there with us. The blackberry bushes were one way you showed me you were there. I had never even seen blackberry bushes at the bridge before, but there they were! And so easy to reach! Thank you Dad! I love you!

"We are having fun camping! I even have some busted up knees to prove it! lol Yesterday we went to Tonto Natural Bridge and I slipped pretty bad on some wet rocks We really did have a great time though!! We even found some blackberry bushes with as many berries as you could eat on them! I think my Dad showed us those He would have been taking me blackberry picking right about now if he were still here. He always got right in the bush to get the best berries for me and always reached the high ones for me. He never cared that he was getting stuck countless times. He would always do anything he could to bring a smile to his kids' faces! He was the best dad!!!! Today he has been gone one month!!! I miss him so much!!! Oh and an awesome thing about yesterday's blackberry bushes, they were short and you could walk around them! It was like my Dad said, "Since I can't be there to pick the berries for you, here's some easy to reach ones so you won't get stuck!" I told you he was the best Dad ever!!! Here's a picture of those knees for those of you who want a visual on what I was talking about "
No last visit :(
Hi Dad!
This is another Facebook post I did about how much I miss you. We were supposed to have such a special visit just a few weeks after you passed. That was never to be though. Oh how I wish we could have had that one last visit! Just that one last visit! Just a few more memories and pictures to hold on to! It just wasn't to be though. I will always treasure the memories and pictures that I do have though. Always! I love you Dad!

"I sure do miss my Dad!!! This was supposed to be the time I was in California to visit him and the rest of my family. We were going to do so many things together. I was going to stay at his house he had just bought. We were going to spend yesterday in San Francisco. He was going to show me the best spot to take pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge. We were going to pick blackberries together. He would have climbed into the bush to get me the best berries, not even caring that he was getting stuck a thousand times, just like he had always done. We were going to go to the ocean together. The ocean was always a special place for my Dad and I really enjoyed going with him. It was going to be a very nice visit for both of us. We were both so excited. I was the only one going so we were going to have plenty of time together. Just the two of us. I can't even tell you how heartbreaking it is that we will never get the chance to have that visit. Or any visit at all this side of Heaven. So so sad. I love you Dad!!!!!

Bears and flowers for Dad
Hi Dad!
There are no words for how devastating the crash site was. We must have driven by it six times searching for it until we finally stopped and asked someone exactly where it was. I had seen those very skid marks, but didn't think they were the ones. They were. You don't see much as you drive by, that's why we missed it so many times. When you stop though, your heart gets ripped out of your chest! It is clear something major happened there! Trees and bushes are flattened and there is debris everywhere. We left you some flowers and two little bears. I wanted to stay so much longer and have some quiet time with you there, but we had to go. Misty needed to get to her doctor's appointment to check on little Auston. I am returning to California for the first time since my visit following your death in a little more than a week from now. I am going back to the crash site to have some alone time and grieve in my own way. I miss you so much Dad! I love you with all my heart!

"The beautiful flowers and cute little bears we left for my Dad at the crash site. The pink rose, yellow lily and pink hydrangea were grown by my Dad himself. They were lovingly chosen by my brother to add to the ones my sister and I had already chosen from the store. It was a little touch of Dad and just perfect. The bears were purple and green because those were my Dad's favorite colors. Oh how it broke our hearts to see the site where my Dad was killed. Just devastating! We love you Dad!!!!"

Balloons for Dad!!
Hi Dad!
What a special moment this was! It helped our hearts to send these balloons up to you. Here's what I shared on Facebook on July 3, 2013 about it. All of these first blog posts are going to be copied from Facebook so that I can look back on them. I have over a year's worth so I hope you don't mind ;) I love you Dad!

"Two days after he passed we had a balloon release for my Dad. It felt good, made us laugh and brought a smile to our faces. The balloons were going CRAZY! It was so hard to get a picture of them! When we let them go, they went wild. They flew sideways, upside down, and right side up. We thought they were going to get stuck in the trees, but not one of them touched the trees! They actually ALL flew around the trees, met back up and floated away together. We watched all six balloons until they were out of site. It was a very special moment!"

That is what my Dad would do and I think it's the best way to honor his memory! That is what I want to do for him this Father's Day! That is a gift I CAN give him today!!!! I love you Dad and miss you so much!!!!!"

"Hello again! It has been a very rough two weeks. I have been in California with my Dad's side of the family. I would like to say that family is everything! If we hadn't had each other, these last two weeks would have been impossible! Thank you all for all of the messages and comments you have left me in these last two weeks!! I haven't had a chance to read them all yet because there are so many. I promise to read them all very soon though!! You all have made me feel VERY loved!!!!! Thank you SO much!!!"

Dale Victor McCormick...The Best Dad A Girl Could Have!!!
Hi Dad!
When I search the Internet for your name, all I get are reports of that awful accident that took your life and your obituary. That is not what I want to come up first anymore. So, I am starting this blog as a way to share my feelings with you and to show anyone who searches the name "Dale Victor McCormick" how loved you are. I want them to know the kind, caring, loving, creative, goofy guy that you were, not just how your life ended. I want them to know that you are a dad who is loved and missed, not just some name on an accident report. This is where I will share my special memories and pictures and love and grief. I love you so very much Dad and I am grateful for every moment I had with you. I am grateful for every smile, every laugh, every hug and every "I love you!" Thank you for being my dad! Thank you for loving me! I love and miss you Dad!
Love,
Mary Ann
A little about who Dale Victor McCormick was:
- The oldest of three sons (No sisters for him)
- A father of three (I am his oldest and he has one more daughter and a son)
- A grandfather of eight (Four girls and four boys)
- A friend to the less fortunate
- A man who walked with God
- An ordained minister (He took this very seriously)
- An artist full of creativity (He could make something out of anything he found)
- A recycler (I know that's not a word, but my dad was a recycler!)
- A man who loved to bring a smile to people's faces (We all loved how goofy he was)
- A man who would give his last nickel to help a fellow man
- A man who loved his family and The lord with all his heart
- The best dad a girl could have!!! (Or a guy, as in my brother's case)
*There are so many more special things about my dad than just those few simple facts, but the list would get too long to read. I plan to share a lot more about who he was and what he means to all of us throughout this blog so please do follow if you are interested in getting to know my dad and the relationship I had with him.
